Trap Catches to June 29 - July05, 2024.

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July!

The second week of trapping and aphid numbers remain low.

With 10 locations reporting, regional trapping patterns remain similar to those of 2023; numbers at this time are very low with many traps not recovering any aphids at all.  We know the traps are working because other insects are being trapped (sometimes in great abundance - non-biting midge populations are way up in several locations!).

Our evening temperatures remain cool, and precipitation continues to occur across the region, both of which can negatively affect aphid populations.  However, the daytime temperatures are starting to rise and that may accelerate aphid reproduction.  So right now, the next week is still up in the air for aphid population growth.

So... Keep on scouting!
