Trap Catches to June 17-28, 2024.
And its the start of another aphid trapping season.
With 4 locations reporting, we off to a similar start to 2023. With relatively cool seasonal evening temperatures, we're currently not accruing a lot of heat units, so aphid development and birth rate is a bit slow. The precipitation isn't hurting either, moist conditions are better than dry ones for the development of the fungal diseases that control insects like aphids. However, temperatures will rise and aphid numbers may respond. The next couple of weeks will tell us...
