Trap Catches to September 11, 2026.
As the season winds down and fields are vine killed, we had only 3 trap locations reporting this week. The decresae in average trap catch continues (down to ~9.7 vectors/trap from 20/trap last week). There was little contribution to the accumulated PVY Vector Risk Index this week, but the seasonal accumulated risk is already high. The decrease in aphids is somewhat tracking the 13 year average. Our regional drop in average aphid flight occurs in early to mid September in most years.
There are, however, still aphids in some fields. It's also worth noting that some locations are still seeing green peach aphids this late in the season. so, keep an eye on remaining fields. We're getting down to the end of the trapping season. We'll shortly be working up the seasonal rollup of populations.
